Palatka is located at (29.647731, -81.651259).1

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 19.5 km² (7.5 mi²). 18.0 km² (7.0 mi²) of it is land and 1.5 km² (0.6 mi²) of it (7.70%) is water.

The Old Memorial Bridge (a nearly-level bascule-type drawbridge) was demolished in the mid-1970s. Four statues of WWI doughboys and a sailor stood on either side of the lift-span of the old bridge. They were removed and placed at either end of the new bridge at the riverbank.

It is of note that one sailor statue is holding an artillery shell he is holding in the area of his waist. [2] The statue is most likely by E.M. Viquesney, who listed it around 1936, and the other three statues at Palatka, in one of his product brochures as one of his many World War memorials he placed around the country.
